If adventure is your thing, this trip is for you. During 5 days you will cross the most extreme, high and unknown landscapes of the country. Puna, volcanoes, white deserts and Martian geography... All in one single experience.
You can start your journey at Fiambalá or Tinogastawith the option of transfers from or to San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca (SFVC).
We travel by 4×4 through the imposing Pissis Balconyat more than 4,500 meters above sea level. I felt the adrenaline of the sandboarding in the Saujil Dunes and relax in the Fiambalá Hot Springsbetween mountains and natural waters.
We go deep into the volcanic heart of the north: we explore the surreal Pumice Stone Fieldthe mystic Antofalla Salt Flat and its original people, and we crossed the crater of the Galan Volcanowith high altitude lagoons and active fumaroles.
And as a final touch, history: we visited the impressive Ruins of El ShincalThe last Inca testimony before returning to the city.

We enter the Seismic Route, home to some of the highest volcanoes in the world. Through a 4×4 crossing, we reach the Pissis Balcony, a natural viewpoint at 4,550 meters above sea level, from where we can contemplate Mount Pissis: the highest dormant volcano on the planet (6,792 m).
On the way, we cross high Andean lagoons, salt flats and landscapes that seem to be from another world, with the possibility of seeing vicuñas, flamingos and other Andean species. An experience of altitude, adventure and extreme beauty.

We set off for the Puna Catamarca to experience one of the most impressive journeys in the region. The Pumice Stone Field is a unique landscape in the world: a sea of white and pink formations carved by ancient volcanoes and shaped by the wind.
The 4×4 crossing crosses salt flats, high altitude plains and dormant volcanoes, revealing an environment that seems to come from another planet. A profound and unforgettable experience in the high mountains.

We venture in 4×4 to the impressive Antofalla Salt Flat, the longest in the world, with more than 150 km of extension. An extreme, silent and magical landscape in the middle of the Catamarca puna.
During the day we visit the Laguna Colorada, the Ojos de Campo (three small lagoons of different colors in the middle of the salt flat) and the picturesque village of Antofalla, a native community located at 3,900 meters above sea level.
Optionally, with an extra charge per passenger and according to weather conditions decided by the logistics team, you can visit the Botijuela site, where there is an active geyser in the middle of the desert (consult the day before or when the excursion starts).

We leave by 4×4 to the imposing Galán Volcano, where one of the largest volcanic calderas on the planet is located. The journey takes us through extreme and majestic landscapes, crossing salt flats and solitary plains.
Inside the crater, we visit the serene Laguna Diamante, surrounded by volcanic walls, and observe active fumaroles emerging from the ground. We also pass by Laguna Grande, a refuge for Andean flamingos and high Andean birds.
A route of altitude, living geology and breathtaking beauty, ideal to close an experience of total adventure.

We started the day with a visit to the Arañitas Hilanderas cooperative, where women artisans keep alive the ancestral tradition of spinning and weaving on looms. An encounter with the textile heart of Catamarca.
Then we move to London to visit the impressive ruins of El Shincal de Quimivil, one of the most important archaeological sites of the Inca Empire in Argentina. We walk among ceremonial streets, warehouses and the classic ushnu, from where the landscape of the valley is contemplated.

It is also possible to finish in Tinogasta (please advise at the time of booking).
That is why we know that, even if you have traveled the world and have a lot of experience traveling, Catamarca is not the same as other more accessible or developed destinations, and that difference is part of its value.
